Mortice gauges are used for laying out mortices and tenons and for marking out with the grain. It is advisable to set the spurs/pins to the actual chisel you intend to use. It is also good practice to mark both the face side and edge of your pieces of timber prior to marking out the mortice and tenon. Mark all the mortice and tenons from the face side to ensure proper alignment of the timber when cut. Available with either plain or thumbscrew slide.
